South Africa may prove popular with international mortgage applicants

Britons hoping to secure an international mortgage in order to move to sunnier climes may find South Africa a suitable destination.

Sue McDermott, co-founder of Spacesa.com - a property search and relocation company established in 2004 - noted there is currently interest in those places along the country's Indian Ocean coast for individuals eager to relocate overseas.

The industry figure explained Kalk Bay and Simon's Town are proving big hits with British expatriates in search of a new life abroad.

She observed foreign movers do not tend to move too far north of Cape Town and generally tend to keep to the south, adding Simon's Town is just 35 to 40 minutes away from the provincial capital of the Western Cape.

"So, people that want to have the attractions of Cape Town on their doorstop, don't necessarily want to be that far away," the expert pointed out.

However, international mortgage applicants considering setting up home in South Africa may wish to gain a better understanding of the conveyancing process in the nation before doing so, as Ms McDermott noted the system is very different to that in the UK.
