Spanish economy to affect international mortgage take-up

Fri, 09 Dec 2011
People considering getting an international mortgage and moving to Spain should study the economy closely beforehand.

This is the advice offered by Chris Marshall, founder of Almerimarlife.com, who noted that accessibility has been affected by the downturn in the tourism industry.

Because of this, flights to and from the nation may not operate throughout the year, which could cause problems in terms of returning to England for visits.

Mr Marshall also told people they need to give the expat lifestyle serious consideration before taking the plunge, as it can get "incredibly intense incredibly quickly".

Individuals should also be careful when it comes to selecting a location, as if they pick somewhere too touristy they may find it difficult to adapt to the place during the off season.

It comes after Mr Marshall stated people considering moving to Spain - possibly using an international mortgage to compete the process - need to make note of the cultural differences.

He noted working patterns are much different, with employees usually clocking off around 19:30 or 20:00 GMT.
