Spain could be ideal for international mortgage applicants

British international mortgage applicants hoping to secure a move abroad might want to consider the benefits to be had by relocating to Spain.

This is because Taylor Wimpey Espana has highlighted the country as a popular destination for Brits looking to start a new life overseas.

The company noted many expatriates make their way to the Mediterranean nation in search of a life of sun, sand and sangria, explaining tourism in Spain has boomed since more people began visiting the destination in the 1960s and 1970s.

Marc Pritchard, sales and marketing director of Taylor Wimpey Espana, suggested the country is a favourite among British international mortgage applicants as it offers a safe bet for those who tend to be sceptical about such moves.

"They tend to make informed decisions after considerable research and they like to know that that their investment is secure," he pointed out.

Mr Pritchard added the company - which has been operating in the country since 1958 and currently employs more than 7,000 people worldwide - has seen a 70 per cent increase year-on-year for enquiries made regarding relocating to Spain in 2011.
