The number of people researching international mortgages in an effort to facilitate a move abroad is likely to have jumped following the end of the summer holidays and the onset of the back to school season.
This is because new figures from Rightmove Overseas have shown prospective buyers returned from the period in a positive mood and are increasingly booking trips to view properties in other countries.
Shameem Golamy, head of the organisation - which displays more than 50,000 properties in over 65 countries - noted areas in France in particular have seen significant uptakes in the number of Brits considering a move there.
The industry figure explained: "The French region of the Dordogne saw a 43 per cent increase in searches month on month, fuelled no doubt by the popularity of the TV series Little England."
In the series, the lives of Brits living in the region on a permanent basis were documented, which is likely to have encouraged others to follow suit.
Elsewhere in France, the Midi-Pyrennes, Lot-et-Garrone and Charente-Maritime also witnessed marked rises in foreign investor interest levels.
