Brits looking to use international mortgages in order to secure property in sunnier climes may find the Caribbean offers plenty of options at present.
Sarah Woods, features editor of Caribbean World Magazine - which has featured Jennifer Aniston, Barack Obama and Daniel Craig on the cover of recent issues - has noted good value is to be found throughout the entire region at the moment, especially in view of the current state of the worldwide economy .
The industry figure stated: "For dirt-cheap deals, speculators are looking to the south and central regions on the Caribbean Sea, such as Bocas del Toro in Panama and the areas around Cartagena in Colombia."
She pointed out, however, that Cartagena itself can be somewhat expensive, but suggested Belize as a viable alternative.
Those considering their international mortgage options may therefore find their investment is able to go far in the Caribbean, regardless of which area they settle on.
Ms Woods went on to note that the secondary market offers attractive deals due to the middle classes being over-stretched and keen to exit the market at the earliest opportunity.
