Florida could prove popular with international mortgage applicants

Individuals hoping to obtain an international mortgage in order to purchase property in the US may wish to consider Florida as a relocation option.

Liz Rowlinson, editor of A Place in the Sun magazine, has noted the Sunshine State currently holds some "amazing bargains" for Brits looking to snap up dwellings.

The industry figure explained this is being made possible due to high levels of repossessions in the region at present, with some analysts suggesting prices could be reduced further should the market continue its decline.

She added: "Other people are saying that the bottom of the market is where we are at now and prices aren't going to fall further."

International mortgage applicants may therefore wish to give plenty of thought into the timing of their foray into the US property sector in order to get the best possible deal.

Her comments come after the latest RE/MAX survey revealed most agents believe housing prices in America will either stay the same or increase in 2012.

The poll also showed the southern US will perform the strongest, with 49.6 per cent in the region believing prices will remain stable and 26.7 per cent expecting a rise.
